Who We Are
Master Fishing Mag started with a simple frustration: finding honest fishing gear advice online is harder than it should be.
Too many “review” sites just rewrite Amazon descriptions. Too many YouTube channels are paid promotions in disguise. And too many forums are full of opinions without real testing.
We built Master Fishing Mag to fix that.
Today, we’re a team of anglers, gear testers, and one very obsessive editor (that’s me) dedicated to one thing: giving you recommendations you can actually trust.
Meet the Team
Alfredo Ramses — Founder & Lead Editor
I’ve spent over a decade deep in the weeds of fishing gear research. I don’t claim to be the best angler on the water—but I might be the best at figuring out which rod, reel, or tackle is worth your money and which is just good marketing.
I lead the editorial process, oversee every review, and personally write or edit most of what you read here. If something makes it onto Master Fishing Mag, it’s because I’m confident it deserves to be there.
Our Network of Field Testers
We work with a small network of experienced anglers across the US who put gear through real-world conditions. They fish. They break things. They tell us what works and what doesn’t—no sugarcoating.
Their insights, combined with our analysis of thousands of user reviews and spec comparisons, form the backbone of every recommendation we make.
How We Work
Our Review Process
We don’t just read the product description and call it a review. Here’s what actually goes into our recommendations:
- Deep Research — We analyze specs, compare models, and read hundreds of user reviews across Amazon, forums, and fishing communities.
- Field Testing — Our network of testers uses the gear in real conditions. Not a photo studio—actual water, actual fish.
- Honest Evaluation — We score products on criteria that matter: durability, performance, value, and real-world usability.
- The “Anti-Sell” — Every product we recommend comes with its honest flaws. No product is perfect, and we won’t pretend otherwise.
Editorial Independence
We participate in affiliate programs (including Amazon Associates), which means we may earn a commission if you buy through our links.
But here’s what that doesn’t mean: no brand pays for placement. Our recommendations are based on merit, not sponsorship deals. If a product sucks, we say so—even if it would make us money to say otherwise.
